Cinderella

“Love is all we need”

This has become the motto of today’s youth across the world. Desperate attempts have been made to strike up new hot romances and passionate relationships.

But not everyone encounters a potential partner on the roads, in aesthetic cafes or in sleazy bars like in the movies.

Enter Online Dating. To help us all stand a chance to find “The One” in a world where True Love has become a luxury, dating sites have become as essential as food.

However, with over 400 million profiles, relentless swiping all week, tiring and disastrous first dates and not to mention catfishing and fake profiles, it became as tedious as searching for a needle in a haystack to find Love.

What’s worth noticing is, the spread of social anxiety with excessive in- app interactions. Somewhere between texting and waiting for a response we began wondering what the other person might think of us; do they like us or not, and overthink if they are what they claim to be or if they are the right person. And the best part is we learnt to take time to craft the perfect response. That being something we can’t do face to face, the awkwardness set in.

So what do we do actually need?

  • As much as the youth’s motto of life is love, it ain’t everything. Life is a whole of different parts. While looking for love we also need to spend time with family and friends and even look after our career.
  • Too much in app interactions fueling anxiety and social awkwardness could actually make us feel nervous and not ourselves on our big night and we might end up losing a good match. We need to get rid of this social awkwardness.
  • We need to have trust over the sites to be confident enough that we are actually meeting the person we talked to. And more than anything our personal safety.

“Don’t crack jokes buddy. It is all digital now. We can’t get all those.” If this is what you’re thinking, I wish to stop you right there and say that,

YOU ARE WRONG.

Do you all remember Cinderella?

Cinderella received an awesome shot at True Love through a fairy godmother. A so wonderful opportunity, where she didn’t have to sacrifice her whole life in pursuit of Prince Charming, she was decked with beauty so much so that she never knew the meaning of awkward or nervous, she didn’t have to doubt for a second that she would lay eyes on someone else other than the Prince.

Well dear Princes and Princesses, we all have been blessed with such a wish.

What wish?

Thursday -worth being single for.

Thursday is a new dating app developed in London. As the name suggests, the app functions only on Thursdays. ( well Cinderella’s wish had a time constraint remember?)

Just like any other dating app, Thursday has all the normal functions -creating a profile, setting up interests, filters for our convenience, ability to choose the area and everything.

So what is different?

  • Thursday functions only on Thursdays. When the clock strikes midnight of Thursday, it goes dormant until next Thursday. So no mindless swiping all week and yes to personal time.
  • You can match with only 10 profiles a day or rather the whole week.
  • Chats with a match and the matched profile itself stays on only for 24 hours. So that means no more excessive texting. You match with someone, you quickly set up IRL meeting. Lest, your match is lost forever. SPEED AND SPONTAINIETY? check.
  • New person every week also means a gradual reduction of social anxiety.
  • Users have to upload their passports or driving license while creating the profile. This makes sure there are no fake profiles or catfishing.

Conclusion

In a world that constantly reinvents itself in terms of technology, business, politics or standard of living, love got its shot. And so did you.

Thursday became live in the last week of May 2021 and is currently operating in London and New York.

Now that the downsides to online dating is reduced to a phenomenal level, if you are in any of those 2 cities, Go ahead, be prudent, and find your prince or princess. The others -we have got to be patient for a while. ;)
